On the afternoon of April 25th, the Office of the Geological Disaster Prevention and Control Headquarters in the Xiqu District of Panzhihua City organized the "2025 Geological Disaster Prevention and Control Knowledge Promotion and Training". Wang Gang, a senior engineer from the City Meteorological Bureau, and Tao Kaiqing, a senior engineer from Sichuan Yekan 601 Geological Engineering Construction Co., Ltd., were invited to give on-site lectures. More than 80 people participated in the training, including the deputy leaders in charge of the member units of the Geological Disaster Prevention and Control Headquarters in the Western District, the disaster prevention responsible persons of the town governments, the monitoring responsible persons, the full-time monitors of hidden danger points, and the safety officers of ongoing construction projects and mines.

At the training session, the experts of the propaganda team, combining with the geological and climatic characteristics of Panzhihua, deeply analyzed the correlation between extreme weather and geological disasters. In the form of case analysis and a combination of pictures and texts, they gave a detailed explanation of the formation conditions, occurrence precursors of various types of geological disasters, how to carry out emergency disaster avoidance after the occurrence of geological disaster situations, basic knowledge of geological disasters, the "Regulations on the Prevention and Control of Geological Disasters in Sichuan Province", and the mass monitoring and prevention of geological disasters.

At the same time, some typical cases that occurred at home and abroad in recent years were analyzed to promote the basic knowledge of geological disasters, effectively improve the awareness of the whole people in identifying, distinguishing, avoiding and relieving disasters, and enhance the ability of the geological disaster prevention and control system of the whole people.

Through theoretical learning and case analysis, the participants further mastered the key points of hidden danger inspections, the process of early warning information transmission, and the methods of organizing emergency evacuations. "The expert's explanation has given me a clearer understanding of daily monitoring and the judgment of early warning information. I will be more confident during future inspections," said Su Junwen, a landslide monitor.

The person in charge of the Office of the Geological Disaster Prevention and Control Headquarters in the Western District pointed out that in recent years, the suddenness, extremity and abnormality of rainstorm and flood disasters have become more and more obvious. This pre-flood season training, combined with the characteristics of geological disasters in this region and the experience of flood control over the years, aims to improve the emergency response ability and build a solid defense line for disaster prevention and avoidance through this training.

Through this training, the abilities of grassroots cadres and mass monitors and preventers in the Western District to identify, report, avoid and prevent disasters have been comprehensively improved. The sense of responsibility and subjective initiative have been further enhanced, laying a solid foundation for the scientific prevention, emergency avoidance and emergency rescue of geological disasters during the flood season.
