Jinkouhe, Leshan: “Aerial Traffic Police” Are on Duty! Drones Ensure Safe Travel for Tourists

In May, Jinkouhe is adorned with green mountains and waters, and is filled with rich cultural charm. With the arrival of the May Day holiday, this unique region, a blend of magnificent canyons, red - themed memories, and idyllic landscapes, has welcomed a peak in tourist flow, becoming the top choice for many tourists seeking "poetry and distant places". To ensure the safe and smooth travel of tourists, Jinkouhe District has innovatively created an efficient "aerial + ground" collaborative system and established an "aerial - ground integrated" intelligent policing model, building a "cloud - based defense line" for safe and unobstructed travel for tourists.

The section of G245 National Road in Jinkouhe District, as the regional transportation lifeline, is an important hub connecting various scenic spots. Along the road, there are popular attractions such as the Jinkou Grand Canyon, the most beautiful water - side road, and the Railway Soldier Museum. During the May Day holiday, the average daily traffic volume is relatively high. In particular, the road leading to the Jinkou Grand Canyon Scenic Area is prone to forming a traffic bottleneck due to terrain restrictions. Traditional manual inspections often require a large number of police forces for traffic monitoring, accident handling, and service assistance.
In response to this practical challenge, during this year's May Day holiday, the Jinkouhe Public Security Bureau and Traffic Police innovatively employed technological means and deployed 2 intelligent drone airports at the Jinkou Grand Canyon Tourist Service Center and the Railway Soldier Museum. Two drones equipped with 4K cameras and infrared thermal imagers form an aerial cruise formation, collaborating with ground police forces to create a three - dimensional duty system.
"Drones play a crucial role in traffic management in scenic areas," introduced Chen Yumei, a member of the Traffic Police Brigade of the Jinkouhe Branch of the Leshan Public Security Bureau. "They can conduct aerial patrols, monitor the traffic flow and pedestrian flow on scenic area roads in real - time, and promptly detect and relieve congestion. Through the high - definition cameras they carry, they can quickly identify violations and assist traffic police in law enforcement. In addition, drones can be used for emergency command. When an emergency occurs, they can quickly transmit information, guide rescue vehicles, ensure the orderly traffic in the scenic area, and enhance the safety and travel experience of tourists."

During the holiday, Jinkouhe District successively launched a series of folk - custom - themed cultural activities, such as dancing the Yi ethnic Dati Dance together, experiencing handmade Yi - style rattan weaving and embroidery, creating lacquer paintings on - site, making glutinous rice cakes by hand, and taking photos at the "most beautiful water - side road", attracting many tourists. According to statistics, the daily average inbound and outbound traffic volume reached a maximum of 16,593 vehicle - trips, setting a new historical high. With the significant increase in the traffic volume entering the Jinkou Grand Canyon Scenic Area, the frequency of traffic accidents and congestion has also risen.

"Please do not stop by the roadside to take pictures and stay away from the water area." The drones hovered over the scenic area. With their advantages of flexibility, real - time efficiency, and panoramic coverage, they flew to the scene first for aerial reconnaissance and command and dispatch. Drones can use low - altitude loudspeakers to disperse congested vehicles. Compared with the traditional "motorcycle escort" model, the efficiency has been greatly improved. The real - time images captured by the drones are also transmitted back to the command center simultaneously. Police officers can directly understand the road conditions on - site and develop more scientific and reasonable traffic - relief plans, thus effectively alleviating traffic pressure and ensuring smooth traffic.

When night falls, the drones are still on cruise missions over the scenic area, vividly demonstrating the intelligent transportation in Jinkouhe. With the in - depth application of "low - altitude +" technology, technology is injecting new momentum into traffic management in mountainous areas. This harmonious cooperation between "landscape" and "technology" not only allows tourists to feel a "tangible sense of security" but also enables Jinkouhe to take a solid step on the track of smart tourism.
