On June 20-21, the fourth season of Life among Mountains and Rivers, a large-scale cultural and tourism exploration program produced by China Central Radio and Television Station (CCTV) in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, visited Lianhe Village, Yanbian County, to deeply explore the unique charm and vitality of this village.

During the program recording, a unique "Books for Vegetables" activity became a highlight. When knowledge met fresh vegetables, the wonderful spark generated amazed the on-site guests. Professor Gu Shuguang from Renmin University of China improvised a couplet: "Qingqing shucai yu, langlang dushu sheng" (literally: "The whisper of green vegetables, the melody of reading aloud"), which served as a brilliant annotation for Lianhe Village's "Books for Vegetables" activity. The couplet, with its neat antithesis and elegant artistic conception, perfectly captured the essence of the event.

Blessed with a unique natural environment, Lianhe Village nurtures high-quality ecological vegetables. The lush greenery, a generous gift from nature, tells the story of fertile soil and farmers' hard work. These vegetables are not only delicious table dishes but also a vivid microcosm of Lianhe Village's industrial prosperity and rural revitalization.

The "Books for Vegetables" activity takes books as a link, building a bridge between culture and public welfare. Tourists exchange unused books for local seasonal vegetables, allowing knowledge resources to unleash their potential value, breathing new life into old books while bringing fresh produce directly to tables. The orderly circulation of books and vegetables deeply embodies the concept of cultural benefiting the people and the dual harvest of material and spiritual wealth.

Gu Shuguang's concise couplet highly summarizes the activity's dual gifts of material and spiritual value. It is not only a vivid tribute to Lianhe Village's innovative practice but also a wonderful interpretation of China's traditional "cultivation-and-reading culture" in the new era. Through the lens of CCTV's Life among Mountains and Rivers, the picture of Lianhe Village in Yanbian—where books and vegetables blend, industries thrive, and culture flourishes—will be vividly presented to national audiences.
