Recently, when you walk into Wangzhen Town, Jingyan County, Leshan City, Sichuan Province, you will find that in the vast fertile fields, a series of new and smooth "four good rural roads" are winding through like silver ribbons, interwoven with the contiguous high-standard farmland, outlining a vibrant picture of rural revitalization.

In recent years, Wangzhen Town has actively implemented the strategy of 'storing grain in land and technology,' integrating the construction of 'four good rural roads' with the development of high-standard farmland. By the end of 2024, Wangzhen Town had constructed a total of 30,300 mu (approximately 2,100 hectares) of high-standard farmland, with 68.86% of the area being high-standard construction or renovation. This has successfully transformed the town from a 'grain field' to a 'quality field' and a 'granary.' Additionally, the town's rural road network has seen remarkable progress, with a total of 936.34 kilometers of roads open to traffic, including 766.82 kilometers of rural roads. The proportion of graded roads, maintenance rates, and the ratio of Class I, II, and III bridges all reached 100%, making the' four good rural roads' a solid link that connects the fields and helps villagers achieve prosperity.

Focus on industrial upgrading and consolidate the "foundation road" for stable production and supply

In the high-standard farmland demonstration area of the collective village, modern farmlands with neatly arranged fields, interconnected canals, and well-connected roads complement the crisscrossing rural roads, creating a harmonious scene of modern agricultural development. "With the roads now accessible, large harvesters and drones can directly enter the fields for operations, significantly boosting production efficiency!" said an official from the Wunong Happy Home Grain and Oil Planting Family Farm in Jingyan County, unable to hide his excitement.

Wangzhen Town has seized the opportunity of the 'Four Good Rural Roads' initiative, implementing an integrated development model that combines transportation, farmland, and industry. To date, over 900 kilometers of industrial roads have been constructed, effectively connecting high-standard farmland, agricultural product processing zones, and cold chain storage points, thus improving the 'capillaries' of the agricultural network. Additionally, the town has invested 180 million yuan to enhance farmland infrastructure, including the construction of new farm roads and irrigation channels, which have linked scattered plots of farmland into contiguous areas, promoting large-scale and intensive agricultural development.

With the deep integration of transportation and agriculture, the town's agricultural mechanization has significantly improved, with grain yield per mu increasing by over 30%, successfully transforming small plots into large fields and low-yield areas into high-yield ones. The smooth rural roads not only connect the fields but also pave a solid path for stable production and supply.

"In the past, when I went to work in the fields, the tricycle was jolted on the bumpy road and seeds and fertilizer were scattered everywhere. Now the cement road goes straight to the field ridge, and the farm machinery drives in and out quickly and steadily!" Qiao Xingfu, a large grain grower in the collective village, said with joy.

The extension of the 'Four Good Rural Roads' has not only greatly improved villagers 'travel conditions but also fully connected the' last mile 'of agricultural production. In Wunong Village, the villagers have a deep understanding of this:' In the past, we were worried about transporting our grain after a good harvest. Now, trucks can directly drive to the fields to load the grain, and fresh grain is quickly transported to the market, with prices significantly higher than before.'

The transformation of the roads is quietly changing the villagers 'lives and production. Over the past five years, Wangzhen Town has invested 290 million yuan to connect 217 kilometers of' dead-end roads, 'widen 165 kilometers of bottleneck roads, and construct and pave 382 kilometers of production roads. Rural passenger transport now covers all village groups, truly realizing the vision of' cement roads at the doorstep, stepping into the vehicle' for convenient travel. In the autumn of 2024, Wangzhen Town delivered an impressive performance. By enhancing the rural road network and collaborating closely with postal services, express delivery companies, and other logistics providers, the town has facilitated the smooth flow of agricultural products from rural areas to urban markets, achieving efficient distribution and directly boosting farmers 'income. The village's collective economy has also seen rapid growth. Wunong Village leverages its road resources to offer a range of services, including road maintenance and agricultural machinery support, to local growers, increasing the collective income by 20,400 yuan annually, serving as a vivid example of rural revitalization.  Rural road construction continues to advance, with the Wangzhu Bridge to Maotai Town Qinghe Village section of the Happy Beautiful Countryside Road project progressing smoothly. This 8-kilometer-long road, with a total investment of 5 million yuan, serves as a key link in the southern grain and oil transportation corridor. Since its start, the project has been efficiently advanced, and the bridge construction, subgrade replacement, leveling, and retaining wall work have all been completed. Upon completion, the 6-meter-wide road will be equipped with a comprehensive drainage system and street lighting facilities, further enhancing traffic safety and transport efficiency, and building a solid foundation for rural industrial development.
